Hello, my name is Jay.
I’m a Web Developer & Designer specializing in Squarespace.
For the past 10+ years, I’ve been creating Squarespace sites for individuals and businesses of all sizes and types. My path to building websites was a long and winding one that went from working in the music business, teaching coding to elementary-aged children, working in IT, creating interactive art installations, becoming a father, and finally, becoming a small business owner.
Bergen Design Co is primarily a one-person operation with an extensive community of other designers, developers, branding professionals, SEO specialists, and more. This allows us to scale up or down depending on the unique needs of every client.
My long history using Squarespace has allowed me to understand the ins and outs of the platform and help create the best solution for every situation. My unique background in many fields will enable me to draw on knowledge and skills that many other Squarespace Experts don’t have.

Customizable
Every platform has it’s downsides and limitations and Squarespace isn’t immune. The layout engine locks you into some specific design constraints but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, having TOO much control can be overwhelming. Having said that Bergen Design Co’s entire business is based on doing things that Squarespace doesn’t allow out of the box. Custom CSS code for specific design tweaks and Javascript Code Injection areas allows you to come up with just about anything you can think of to make your site unique. We’ve tweaked just about every single element in the Squarespace editor so just ask, the sky is the limit.
